This pic is of Mt Marathon where runners race up the mountain and back every 4th of July. The town is always packed for this event. It’s very popular in Alaska. I can’t imagine running up and down that mountain but a lot of people do it every year. You can see the trail in this picture.

This is Arctic Valley Ski Resort in the Chugach Mountains above Anchorage. It’s been around since I was a kid. It’s a favorite spot for people in the area to go to pick blueberries in the summertime. Sometimes they are ripe by now but this year they are way behind. They’re still flowering.

Here’s a few pics of the bore tide on Turnagain Arm. It’s one of only 60 in the world and it’s one of the best. Surfers like to go out and catch the wave in the summertime and ride it down the inlet as the tide comes in.

Looking out from the visitors center at Portage Lake, you can see Portage Glacier in the distance in the mountains. Strange that when I was a kid the glacier and icebergs came into the lake all the way to where the shore is now. That’s how much it’s shrunk in 50 years.
