My Alaska Life
Being out in nature you get a realistic view of Mother Nature. It’s not always a pretty sight. We have eagles here and they are so magnificent and I love watching them. However, they are hunters and this year we have a large family of them searching for food. It’s okay when they are hunting fish but I hate to watch them hunting for ducks. We’ve had a family of blue winged teals hanging out and the eagles keep trying to eat the little babies. There are 11 of them following mom and the eagles kept diving on them. I yell at the eagles to stop but they don’t listen to me. Although I did cause enough of a ruckus I guess that they were not successful while I was watching. Here’s a pic of one of the eagles diving on the mom and babies. The mom was making a lot of noise and fighting off the eagle and when she swam fast the little babies swam fast after her. They can’t fly yet but you can see in the picture how they scoot along the water pretty fast after her. I hope the babies continue to survive and grow to adulthood without getting eaten. It’s not always a pretty story around here.
