My Alaska Life

We love the Iditarod! A little history lesson: the first race was in 1973 and Dan Seavey ran it. Dan is the grandfather to Dallas Seavey who won the Iditarod this year for his 5th time. His father Mitch is also an Iditarod champion, having won the race 4 times. With this race Dallas has surpassed his father’s record. Mitch didn’t run the race this year but he still may in the future and could one day catch up to Dallas with 5 wins. Only time will tell but suffice to say the Seavey family is a big part of Iditarod history. Here’s a few pics at the finish line in this year’s race with 3 generations of Seavey Iditarod mushers. His grandfather, and his father, as well as his mother are in these photos with him all looking very proud of him!
