The winter is setting in now but before it did Jeff and I took one last adventure fishing in the Susitna Valley.

Here’s some puffballs. Edible when young they are now expired and when you kick them they puff out their spores so that next year they will replenish on the forest floor.

In addition to sunflowers, I also grew gladiolas, lilys and hollyhocks. The hollyhocks grew very tall. They are my new favorite flower!

Fall time gets really windy and out on the sandy river banks the wind causes mini sandstorms.

This is an abandoned cabin sitting right on the bank of the Susitna River. I’m not sure of it’s history but we watch it every year as we drive by. One day it will just fall into the river.

I never get tired of catching a glimpse of Mt McKinley. The tallest mountain in North America you can see her from hundreds of miles away. This shot was taken from Anchorage. She’s beautiful covered in white already.
