The reward for all my weeding was a few radishes that were ready to eat! There was also a little bit of red lettuce ready to eat. Not much else yet but it won’t be long!

Weeding the garden is quite a chore! The chickweed grows better than anything. It’s too bad we don’t like to eat it as it is edible. The amount of chickweed we pull out of there is enough to feed us all year. I had to find the carrots and fennel in all the chickweed which was very hard as they look so similar. We’ll see if all this work is worth it. So far the garden looks really nice.

It’s easy to lose track of time in the summertime. It’s so light out so late at night this time of year. Our friends were over visiting and all of the sudden we realize how late it is. Here they are leaving our place at 1:30am. The sun is down but it’s still light out and I can still take a photo of them.

Mt McKinley looms over the river on a hazy day. This mountain is hard to ignore. So big and so beautiful!

This is Alaska Cottongrass. It’s like little cotton balls growing on the end of a stem. It’s one of my favorite flowering plants.

Lots of flowers are blooming now making the landscape so colorful. This lilac bush and tartarian honeysuckle bush are loaded with flowers right now. The wild roses are beautiful too. Jeff went around and collected me a bouquet of wild flowers!

We spend so much of the year in Alaska surrounded by white and brown. Many of my pictures in the wintertime could be confused for black and white film when in reality they are color film. Alaska has certainly greened up now! I love summertime here!
