Once the snow left the raspberry patch I got in there and cut out the dead canes and raked out the debris. It’s a big patch and a lot of work.

The ducks started showing near the cabin a while back. This is a mallard male and female.

Saw a moose today! The river and the woods are really coming to life these days!

Now that the snow is mostly melted in the yard look at all the holes that the shrews made during the winter under the snow. They have entry holes and tunnels all over! I’ve never seen so many. I haven’t actually seen the shrews yet but there must be a lot of them.

Saw a bear across the river about 800 feet away. Close enough for me. Glad he was on the other side of the river. However, bears can swim!

Mosquitos are out and quite big and quite ferocious! I’m quite allergic to them too! I have bites that have welted up the size of quarters and the itch drives me crazy for days! Jeff put up the screen around the porch to give us a place to escape outside from the mosquitos. The screen comes down in the winter.

After a long winter Jeff was excited to finally get his boat back in the water. We’re looking forward to this upcoming boating season.

After playing on the icebergs, Jeff got busy making a path through them so he can get his boat in the water. He picked, and axed and pushed at them for a couple days and finally got all the ice out of the way. Hard to believe he could do it really. It was a lot of ice!
