On a drive on the Parks Hwy to Talkeetna I caught these pics of Mt McKinley looming over the highway and in the foreground you can also see the famous Dr. Seuss house that a man named Mr Wiedmer started building as a private 2 story residence but then kept adding on to it until now it sits at 185 feet high. I guess if you were to walk to the top floor you could see 300 miles in all directions. It obviously has a wonderful view of Mt. McKinley. However, it is a private residence, and it does not have tours.

It’s a bit light out in the summer pretty much all night long in Alaska. First pic was at 1:49am, 2nd pic at 2:49am and 3rd pic at 3:45pm just to give you an idea.

The grass and dandelions have certainly been growing. Jeff geared up against the mosquitoes and mowed the lawn.

It was such a wet, cold beginning to Summer. And as I mentioned, the mosquitos have been so bad. Here I am planting in the garden a few weeks ago dressed to the nines against mosquitoes.

It’s so hard to work in the garden these days. The mosquitos attack as soon as we walk outside and they are vicious. It’s worse than usual this year probably because of all the rain this Spring and early Summer. Every window screen has mosquitos buzzing on or around them trying to get in. The temperatures outside have warmed up but if you go outside in shorts you’ll get eaten up so this is my outfit for gardening. I sweat like I’m in a sauna but at least the mosquitos can’t get me!

This time of year I keep this mosquito racket in my hand or nearby at all times. It works really well.

10:45 pm and the sun isn’t even down yet. In the Summertime this is why Alaska is called the land of the midnight sun!

Took a ride up and down the tram to the top of Mt Alyeska. This is Alaska’s most famous ski slope.

This is the view from the highway driving in and out of Anchorage. So close to the city yet so magnificent and wild.
