My Alaska Life

While out driving on the Turnagain Arm I saw this scene which was frightening. This guy had gotten his boat stuck on a high spot in the middle of the Turnagain Arm waters, which has some of the biggest tides in the world. The tide goes in and out 2 x a day. As the sign within sight of this scene suggests, these waters and mud flats can be very dangerous. People have died by getting stuck in the mud and drowning when the tide came in. This guy got out of his boat and was trying to set up a winch to pull his boat to the deep water, which surrounded this high spot. It looked like he was able to walk without sinking in so there must have been a sandbar under him. Not sure how or when this guy got out but I reported it to authorities so they could help him. He was probably stuck for hours and possibly till the next tide brought more water in.
